An Artist's Advice for Finding Fine Art Bargains


     The studio price is the gallery price. That isn't negotiable. Please, don't try to bypass this sacred relationship!

 
                                                        So, where can you save?

SELECT A SKETCH (A sketch can be a drawing or even painting. It is simply something less polished. And often, fresher!)

BUY UNFRAMED ART.

Ask about STUDIO FRAMING.  Not as nice, sure. You really do get what you pay for here. But this one option can save you hundreds...many hundreds sometimes.  Your studio-framed painting can give you pleasure every day while you save up for the more exquisite option of gallery framing.
That said, my studio framing is very nice. It's just that my gallery framing is so drop-dead lovely!

DISCOVER AN OLDER PAINTING WITH ITS ORIGINAL PRICE STILL ATTACHED. Few remain, but still, some do! I paint. I don't spend my days repricing paintings.

ASK THE GALLERY TO REFRAME THE PAINTING TO FIT YOUR BUDGET.
             TELL THEM I SAID I'D REFILL THAT EXPENSIVE FRAME FOR THEM, IF THEY"LL DO THAT FOR YOU. (SAY PLEASE!)
