THE RIVER ROAD

This scenic stretch of pavement runs along the Rio Grande between Lajitas and Presidio, and is a favorite drive, one of the most spectacular in the southwest. Contemporary west Texas painter Lindy Severns chose to emphasize the rainbow of color, the play of ochres and violets in this Big Bend borderlands landscape.
 The road is barely visible in the upper corner.
