Texas sage blooms backdropped by the Chisos Mountains of Big Bend National Park one October sunrise as we drove into the park from Marathon, Texas. The lilac and violet and fuchsia flowers, blossoming like crazy in one isolated spot in the desert were a surprise gift enough, but then, the sun began illuminating the mountains and WOW. I jumped out of the truck and wound my way through the forest of fragrant sagebrush, snapping pictures wildly as the sun crept up.
I know I'm not supposed to apologize for bad photography, but in this case, no photos have done justice to the mystical light that shines out of this seldom exhibited painting. (Do I really keep favorites around the studio for my own enjoyment? You bet I do, and this is one of my favs.)
