Closed Canyon, off the River Road through Big Bend Ranch State Park in far west Texas leads  to the Rio Grande. The canyon's towering walls  narrow and wind a mysterious path to the river. Light falls, but rarely reaches the canyon floor.

Mountain landmark rock formation as the first stop on the route from Fort Davis to El Paso. Native Americans sheltered at Point of Rocks long before. 
It's likely rain has always been welcome there!

Bishop's Lodge in Santa Fe is a favorite Northeastern resort, but it was once home to Archbishop Remy. (read in Willa Cather's DEATH COMES TO THE ARCHBISHOP).

A dusting of snow and late afternoon light emphasized the reverence of this simple high desert adobe.
