An original Lindy Cook Severns wildlife pastel painting
Buffalo | American Bison | Texas Wildflowers | North Texas | Fossil Rim Wildlife Preserve
12" x 24" pastel on archival paper
This herd of American bison (I've always called them 'buffalo') live in Fossil Rim Wildlife Sanctuary near Glen Rose in central Texas. We happened on them as the woke one October dawn, knee deep in the purple gayflowers and yellow broomweed that mark central Texas autumns. The herd, like the wildflowers, seemed to be happy and content, and enjoying runoff from the previous night's rain.
